Nestled in DC’s charming Palisades neighborhood, this single-family home was thoughtfully reimagined to meet the needs of a growing family. Without increasing the home’s square footage, we reconfigured the first and second floor to optimize space and functionality.
By relocating the dining room into the living room, we reclaimed the original dining room space to create a larger, more open kitchen with a breakfast nook, a walk-in pantry, and a butler’s pantry that connects the kitchen to the new dining area. Additionally, we carved out a mudroom adjacent to the staircase leading to the garage and a powder room next to the entrance hallway.
On the second floor, we enclosed the double-height foyer to create an extra bedroom. The owner’s suite was reconfigured for a more functional layout, including a redesigned bathroom and walk-in closets. To enhance practicality, we relocated the laundry room to this floor as well.
The result is a home that feels spacious, comfortable, and perfectly tailored to the family’s lifestyle. It’s incredible what can be achieved by maximizing the efficiency and functionality of every space!
